Tannoy Mercury V1 Bookshelf Speakers
Tannoy Mercury V1 Bookshelf Speakers Tannoy Mercury V1 Bookshelf Speakers. The Tannoy V1 bookshelf/standmount speakers are the latest version of Tannoy’s best selling Mercury range. The V1 speakers are the fifth generation, to be exact, and combine Tannoy’s vast experience in speaker manufacture, (being one of the longest standing speaker manufacturers in the world), with innovation and design trickled down from their higher-end ranges, and the end result is a speaker of outstanding performance and value. The Tannoy V1 speakers have larger cabinets than their predecessors, the Mercury F1 Custom speakers. These cabinets deliver dramatically deeper bass. Further good news is that this does not come at the expense of control. Thanks to revised bracing, the Tannoy V1 bookshelf speakers have a stiffer structure than before slowing for a more dynamic but clean/controlled attack. The new driver array gives the Mercury range a cleaner, more natural sound than ever before. A pulp-fibre cone construction is lighter and stiffer than previously used drivers, giving a more powerful sound, articulate mid-range and a clean delivery. The reworked tweeter gives impressive top-end clarity whilst an overhaul of the crossover, now using high purity silver plated wiring and enhanced DMT damping on the HF capacitors, (whilst sounding complicated!), really just gives a purer and clearer sound. The Tannoy Mercury V1 bookshelf speakers look gorgeous in either of the two finishes, (dark walnut and sugar maple). Thanks to the superb styling and affordable price, the V range as a whole will be constantly challenging for top awards. The flush design of the speaker cones looks as clean as the Tannoy V1 sounds, and the rigid construction has the feel or a much more expensive speaker. At just 30cm tall, the Tannoy Mercury V1 is a compact standmount/bookshelf speaker, but its performance bellies its size.
